Administrative Policies for NTEN Credit Courses
Last Update: September 17, 2002

Minimum & Maximum Enrollment:
NTEN courses are offered contingent on a minimum number of learners. If the minimum enrollment for a course is not met, the course will be cancelled. Enrollment is limited and applicants are notified by confirmation letter of their acceptance or non-acceptance into a course.

Registration Priority for Sponsored Courses:
Registration priority for fully sponsored courses will be given to students who have never taken a fully sponsored course.

Auditing a Course:
Requests to audit a course are only accepted through the second week of the course and must be approved by the instructor. Students must submit their request to the instructor. If approved, the student and the instructor should contact the NTEN registration coordinator at 406-994-6683 or outreach@montana.edu to let us know about the change of status. Please note that NTEN does not offer a reduced tuition rate to students auditing courses.

Dropping a Course:
Requests to drop a course without a grade are only accepted through the third week of the course. Submit your request to the NTEN registration coordinator at 406-994-6683 or outreach@montana.edu to let us know about your decision to drop. NTEN will send you a prompt reply letting you know that your request has been received and the amount of your refund, in accordance with our refund and cancellation policy (see below). Refund processing will take approximately three to four weeks.

Withdrawing from a Course:
During the fourth through the eleventh week (or, if a summer course, through the eighth week) of the course, drops will be graded "W" (withdrawal) and will be accepted for extraordinary reasons only, and require approval from the instructor. After the eleventh week, withdrawals are no longer accepted. Students must submit their request to the instructor. If approved, the student and the instructor should contact the NTEN registration coordinator at 406-994-6683 or outreach@montana.edu to let us know about the change of status. There are no refunds available for withdrawals.

Refund & Cancellation Policy:
If you drop a course after the course materials are mailed, you will be required to return the materials at your own expense. All drops will be assessed a minimum $50 administrative fee. Students dropping during the 2nd week of a course will be charged 25% of the tuition on self-supporting courses, and students dropping during the 3rd week of a course will be charged 50% of the tuition on self-supporting courses. No refunds apply after the third week of a course.

To request an audit, drop or withdraw from a course, or for general information about administrative policies, please contact the NTEN registration coordinator at 406-994-6683 or outreach@montana.edu.
